There’s never a dull moment in the fitness and nutrition world. Just when you think you have it figured out, in terms of which vitamins to take, new information comes along. For years, I’ve been wary of taking vitamins, because I knew that a healthy well balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies should fill the bill. Turns out, it does! There’s an interesting article from the New York Times from June 8th that looks at the need for vitamins, and a law passed in 1974 that effectively prevents the FDA from informing the public about excessive vitamin intake and the potential damage it causes. Here’s the link to the full article. It’s inconceivable to me that this type of information has not been out in the open, but you can imagine the power and money behind the vitamin lobby. href="http:// http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/09/opinion/sunday/dont-take-your-vitamins.html?pagewanted=2&_r=0&emc=eta1

I’m interested in your input. Bottom line: If you eat a well-balanced diet with a lot of plants and grains, as well as protein from either dairy or poultry or lean meats, you should be OK.
It’s another example of why grandma’s advice to eat your fruits and vegetables made a lot of sense! To your health!
Also, thank so much to those of you helping me toward my goal of raising $4300 for the PMC. Here’s the link to the donation page, pmc.org and my letter if you haven’t yet, but would like to help find (and fund) a cure for cancer! Thanks in advance for your support!
